Merry Christmas

Just a quick note to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We'll be in Mississippi for the holidays visiting with family so this will probably be the last news from us until 2008. For a little holiday cheer why not click on the link below and watch our little family get turned into elves and dance, thanks to the people at Office Max.

Christmas Musical

Weslie and Gabbie were both in the Children's Musical at our church this year. Weslie was Mary and Gabbie was a lamb. They both did a great job and were probably the best Mary and lamb that any Christmas Play has ever seen.

Hey, It's Snowing

The first snow of the year. It kind of caught us by surprise. We were scurrying to find all our snow clothes. We didn't find every piece, but enough that we could go out and play.

There's a video of Weslie and Gabbie playing in the snow posted on the "movies" page or here.

Chicken Pox????

That's right, we believe Weslie has Chicken Pox. Mary's brother and his family were just here visiting and when they returned home their son turned up with Chicken Pox. So, we checked our girls and sure enough Weslie has the trade mark pox on her back and legs. Gabbie, so far, doesn't have any. Neither of the girls have a fever or are feeling sick or anything and Weslie's poxes are mild at the worst. You might be thinking that we should have had them vaccinated. We did. Both of our girls and Mary's nephew have been vaccinated against Chicken Pox.

Happy Thanksgiving

We had some visitors for the holiday. Mary's brother Steven and his family drove up all the way from Mississippi to see us. While they were here we took them on little tours of Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., and we also had Thanksgiving. It was a little tiring but a lot of fun.

Not Much Going On

The weather's crazy. It's cold, it's warm, wearing t-shirts, where's my coat? This is just a quick note about Gabbie. Gabbie's new favorite thing is putting up groceries. She loves to go through every bag and take out everything one at a time and ask, "What is this?". Then she'll say, "Oohhh" and give it to you. If it's something heavy when she picks it up she'll say, "I'm strong. I have muscles".

'Til Next Season

It's time to hang up the old cleats and jersey. Soccer season is over and not to soon. Weslie had fun and loved playing but it was starting to get cold at the last couple games. It looked more like practice than a game with most of the girls wearing heavy coats over their jerseys. At the end of the last game they gave out little soccer trophies. Weslie was so proud she took it everywhere to show people, around the neighborhood, church, the store, everywhere.

Happy Halloween

It's a little cooler now, the sun is setting a little earlier, and the leaves are changing color. That can only mean one thing. It's time to dress up and go door to door and beg for candy. The girls had a fun Halloween and they took in a pretty good haul. Weslie dressed up like Robin, as in Batman and Robin, and Gabbie dressed up as Snow White.

Race for the Cure

I (Danny) ran in my first 5k today. I had a few different venues to choose from but chose to run in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. I thought that it would be less crowded than the Baltimore run and plus if I'm going to give my money to someone I couldn't think of a better cause. As far as it being less crowded I wonder if any of the other 30,000 plus thought that? Anyway, it was a beautiful day but cold. I got in a fairly fast crowd and was able to keep up and finished with a time of 23:40. A personal record.

Pumpkins

Weslie had a soccer game this morning and then afterwards we went to a farm to get some pumpkins. Weslie did ok playing soccer but it seems she is more interested in talking to the other team. Then we went to a local farm that gives hayrides and lets you pick your own pumpkins. Gabbie kept trying to pick up pumpkins that were almost as big as her and then say, "Daddy, it heavy".

Let's All Go to Dutch Wonderland

Because we didn't really have a party for Gabbie's birthday we thought we would do something special, so we went to Dutch Wonderland. All the rides are just the girl's size and there were lots of them to ride. Gabbie and Weslie had a blast, but I don't think I've ever seen them so tired when we got home later that night.

Happy Birthday Gabbie

Man have we been busy. We just got back from Florida, Danny's parents are visiting, and it's also Gabbie's Birthday. As always we bought her too many toys.

A Little Florida Sun

We met up with some of Mary's family for a vacation in Destin, FL. The weather was perfect and the water was clear and warm. Gabbie loved swimming in the ocean and would point to the beach whenever she saw it and say, "swim, swim, Gabbie, swim."

Even More Soccer

No video this time and it's not really needed. The other two videos pretty much sum up what these soccer games are like. Weslie team did good, but the other team seemed to be made up of mostly older girls who better understood what they are doing. Here's Weslie and one of her team mates talking to each during the game.

Soccer: Game Two

For Weslie's second game it was windy and a little bit chilly. Not as many of the girls cried or wouldn't play and they're getting a little more aggressive at getting the ball. Weslie was also getting into the action a little more and not waiting for someone to give her the ball.

First Soccer Game

Weslie had her first soccer game just two days after her first soccer practice. While she didn't score any goals, she did try and best of all she didn't cry. Almost half of the team didn't want to play at first, so Weslie got a lot of playing time. The good news is Weslie's team won.

First Soccer Practice

Not that much has been going on here towards the end of summer. We've been doing a little renovating on the house, basically just some painting, but now that school has started so have all the activities. Weslie will be playing soccer this year and she just had her first practice. How do you teach a bunch of four-years-old how to play soccer? I have no idea, but she likes to run and kick the ball. Stay tune for more news and pictures from the season. Her first game is this weekend.

Happy Birthday Weslie

It's Weslie birthday and that means it's party time. For her fourth birthday Weslie wanted a Dora party. I just wished she wouldn't pick such obscure themes. If you read the previous post then you know we had a moon bounce and there was food and a pinata and of course cake and presents. Weslie had a great time and I couldn't have been more happy for her.

Moon Bounce

We got a moon bounce for Weslie's birthday party. As soon as it went up Weslie and Gabbie were on it. I think they were almost tired of it by the time of the party.

Tree Fort Thingy

Just a quick note. Nothing much going on. The one news bit would be that we finally found a tree fort thingy for Weslie and Gabbie. We looked at buying a new one at first, but you've got to be kidding. Then we started looking in the classifieds but when we found one they were always taken. Then we tried Craig's list and holy-moly we found one just one mile away. Just goes to show you to never give up.

Have You Met the Dabbs

Did you know that Mary came from a somewhat large family? She has three brothers and two sisters making a grand total of six kids for her parents. Did you also know that all of her brothers and sisters are married and all have at least two kids of their own? That's quite a crew. With everyone having their own families and their own lives it's rare when they are all able to get together. Well it happened at little Dawson's 4th birthday party. Here are all the Dabbs brothers and sisters with their kids, minus two.

Back in Mississippi

It's summer vacation time, so we packed up the old family vehicle and pointed it south. Ahhhhh, it's nice to get back to Mississippi to see old friends and family and familiar sights and sounds like, "More sweet tea?" Mary's parents have a pool, that's where we spent the majority of our time, and Gabbie and Weslie love it. Weslie can now touch bottom in the shallow end, and Gabbie learned to swim with arm floats.

Happy Father's Day

The other day Mary and I were talking and she said, "You know you are so much like your dad that when y'all are together it's kind of scary".

Thanks Dad, I can only hope and try to be as good as a father as you have been to me.

Happy Father's Day.

Dance Recital

Weslie had her end of the year dance recital, and the theme was Mary Poppins. After taking dance now for two years and being a little bit older Weslie did better this year as far as actually trying to do the dances. The recital was a little over three hours longs and I got all of the five minutes that Weslie was on stage on tape. They were very clever to spread her dances out over the length of the recital.

Busy Weekend

What a busy weekend it has been. First, Weslie had her Awana Picnic and pinewood derby. Her car did good, but didn't win anything. Sorry, no pictures, we forgot the camera. Then we went to a drive-in movie. Our neighbor and her son invited us and Weslie loved it. It was a whole lot easier than going to a normal theater. Thanks Mary-Beth and Seth. We also had Weslie's Awana award program to go to. Pretty busy weekend. Oh, and we also painted the living room and dining room.

Weeeeeee!

It was a beautiful weekend so we thought we would take Weslie and Gabbie to an amusement park. We went to Dutch Wonderland, a smaller park but all their rides are for smaller kids, which is perfect for us. They had a blast. Then it started to get hot. Good thing they also had a water park. It was seven hours of pure bliss and excitement until we had to leave. Then they fell asleep.

Riding in Style

The weather here lately has been just beautiful, so we've been spending alot more time outdoors. We got this little cart thing so that we could all go on bike rides together and it has been really great. However, riding with Weslie is like taking along a personal trainer. A really little but tough personal trainer. Here are some of her favorite quotes:

"Daddy, why are we going so slow?"
"I want to go up that hill again"
"No coasting, pedal, pedal, pedal"
"Daddy, are you tired already?"
"Why is Mommy so far ahead of us?"
"Why are we turning around?"

Soapbox Derby

Seeing how we live at the bottom of a little hill we just can't seem to stop playing in the street. Weslie and Gabbie love to go up and ride back down the hill, all the while Danny is having to push and chase after them. It really is great fun. Kind of makes you wish you were a kid again.

Bath Time

Not much really going on. We just had this really cute picture of Gabbie during her bath and thought we just had to share it. This has been a good week. The weather has finally warmed up, Danny had his birthday, and we think that our radon issue is on the verge of being solved.

No More Highchair

The girls are growing up so fast. Gabbie has said goodbye to the old highchair and is now sitting in Weslie's booster seat, which Weslie has out grown and is now sitting in a normal chair. Gabbie wants to do everything just like Weslie. Weslie doesn't drink out of sippy-cups, so Gabbie doesn't want a sippy-cup. If you give her one she'll try to take the lid off. She also insist on feeding herself, even if it is something like soup.

Happy Easter

Hooray for candy! Well it looks like a little cold weather didn't stop the Easter Bunny from coming, but we did notice that he hid the eggs inside this year. Weslie and Gabbie filled up on the candy before heading off to church in their beautiful Easter dresses which were covered up by their winter coats.

Gabbie's First Easter Egg Hunt

What is there to say. It was cold. Gabbie didn't know what was going on at first. The bigger kids were finding all the eggs. One kid actually took an egg out of her hand. But in the end she managed to find a few eggs and was very pleased with herself. All in all a very good Easter egg hunt.

Happy Birthday Jasper

We're not really sure when Jasper's actual birthday is, but this is close. He's been with us for 13 years now. We got him as a little kitten, too little, when we were in college. For the first few of weeks we had to feed him Pet Milk with an eye dropper. He's done a lot of traveling: all the weekend trips from school, when we moved to Miami, when we moved back to Mississippi, and when we moved up here to the Baltimore area. Now that we're settled, he's having to learn to be a pet to two little girls, and he's doing a great job.

Let's Unwind for a Second

The last couple of weeks have been insanely busy. There has been the whole "moving in" business plus we've also been doing alot of work on our old place trying to get it ready for the new people to move in. Everyday has just been nonstop and we aren't even finished yet. Plus, get this, within 48 hours of getting our brand new phone number we're already getting calls from telemarketers. Thankfully yesterday was fairly nice and we were able to take some time out and enjoy our new surroundings.

Moving In

It's official. We have moved into our new house. Granted we haven't unpacked everything and we're mainly living out of boxes, but we're getting there. Special thanks to Michael, Warren, Rick, and Scott for helping us move. With out them Danny would have probably been crushed to dust trying to move that entertainment center.

Weslie goes to the Dentist

The title pretty much says it all. Weslie had her first dental appointment. Believe it or not, she loved it. She said she wants to go every morning. Everything went fine, there were no problems, and she got a bunch of stuff, so why wouldn't she like it.

What's this Stuff???

Maryland weather is crazy. Gulf Stream this Lake Effect that, all we know is that it was 70 the other day and now it's snowing. It's not a blizzard or anything, but it is our first snow this winter. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow, just not when we're trying to move.

Don't Jinks Us

There probably won't be too many post coming up in the next couple months, as we are in the process of buying a house. Everything is going very smoothly. The sale won't be finalized for another six weeks, so we're holding our breathes and praying that nothing happens. Then we'll finally be able to relax a little, that is if you think moving is relaxing.

The Winter that Never Came

Blame it on El Nino or Global Warming but this winter has been ridiculous. It kind of looked like it was going to be a some what normal winter early on, but it was 73 degrees today. 73 degrees. Everyone is sick or allergies or something. The weather man said to look for cooler weather coming soon. We'll just have to wait and see. Maybe it will drop below 50.

I wish it would snow.
