Spring Update

Because we archive these post in book form at the end of each year we like to sprinkle in these little updates about what's going on in the world at large. The big news right now of course is the H1N1 Swine Flu. Then of course there's the ever present bad housing market, bad economy, record high unemployment, and companies filing for bankruptcy. I'm amazed that with all the bad news that is constantly being reported 24-7 that everyone's not hunkering now in their house bunker style.

If only there was something a little more upbeat, a little happier . . .

. . . how about this picture of Gabbie and Brian.

Warrior Princess

Today was the opening day of softball season; at least for Weslie's league it was. This is Weslie's first time playing softball, but she did play tee-ball last year and they're pretty much the same. Still no outs, an inning is over when everyone's batted, and the last batter gets to hit a home run. One difference is they've gone straight to pitching and only use the tee after five pitches. Weslie did very well. She fielded a couple of hits and didn't need the tee.

Happy Easter

We had a beautiful day for Brian's first Easter. Like all Easters there were lots of eggs, way to much candy, and beautiful Easter outfits. Of course we tried to cram as much Easter fun into the weekend as we could. This weekend was also the end to Weslie's spring break. Well, I guess all good things have to come to end and we all have to go back to our normal routines, but that's pretty fun too.

Oh, and Brian is nine months old now. Just in case you were wondering

National Zoo in D.C.

Weslie is out of school for Spring Break and the weather yesterday was beautiful, so we thought we make a quick little trip down to the National Zoo in DC. Obvioulsy we weren't the only ones who thought that because the Zoo was packed. We had a great time and the girls loved it, but they thought the Elephant House was stinky. On the way home we swung by our old neighborhood in Baltimore and ate at the Sip and Bite. Brian did remarkably well. Despite all the traveling and noplace to take a nap he was all smiles and giggles.

Won't Back Down Part 2

Brian is really crawling around and exploring his environment, but I don't think he's satisfied with crawling. He loves to pull himself up and as long as he has something to hold on to he'll walk along it. He's made some unsuccessful attempts of letting go to stand unsupported, but so far all he's been able to learn from that is how to fall on to his bottom.
